Alzheimer’s caregiver monthly support group meets on the second Thursday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30pm, at VNS Portsmouth office. The support group facilitators have been trained by the Alzheimer’s Association-Rhode Island chapter. The purpose of the meetings are to provide education, care giving tips and support to those caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.  

Bereavement support groups Hospice at Visiting Nurse Services of Newport & Bristol Counties, in collaboration with Memorial Funeral Home, provides several 6-week Bereavement Education Groups for those dealing with the loss of a loved one. Participants a share feelings and learn coping strategies. These 6-week groups are open to the public. Pre-registration is required. Our Diabetes Support Group is open to all those living with diabetes. The group is provided free of charge by Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties. The group is held on the second Thursday of every month, 1 to 2 pm, at the Edward King Center, 35 King St., Newport. Each meeting is facilitated by a certified diabetes educator.
