VNS Hosts Tina Sloan in Changing Shoes
On a very special summer night in July, VNS hosted TV/stage star
Tina Sloan at the newly renovated Casino Theatre for a one-night
performance of her biographical one-woman play, Changing Shoes.
A packed audience of many of the area’s summer as well as
year-round residents reminisced, laughed, and cried through Ms.
Sloan’s multi-media performance about aging with grace, style
and humor. The play was a first-ever theatrical event for the
VNS and one that we hope to continue in the future at the
fabulous Casino Theatre here in our own community.
Edna Open 2011
Edna Open 2011 : The 18th annual Edna Open was held on a hot day
in July. Established by the O’Brien, Franks and Schwartz
families in memory of their mother, Edna O’Brien, this annual
golf tournament celebrates a great day outside for duffers as
well as decent golfers. Betting holes, mulligan do-overs, and a
silent auction help to raise funds for VNS, while an awards
banquet celebrates the best scores as well as the booby prizes.
Chocolate Brunch November
6, 2011
A sold-out crowd of chocolate lovers basked in the delicious warmth of
the first Chocolate Brunch held by Visiting Nurse Services of Newport &
Bristol Counties on November 6, 2011, at Newport's Rotunda at
Easton's Beach. The fundraising event celebrated the agency's
60th anniversary, members of its founding families and legacy honorees.
